About the Author
Paul Goransson is Founder and Chairperson of the Elbrys Networks where he currently leads corporate strategy and directs Elbrys' Intellectual Property portfolio. A serial entrepreneur who has led two boot-strap start-up companies through successful acquisitions by industry giants - Qosnetics by Hewlett Packard (1999) and Meetinghouse by Cisco (2006). Paul held senior management positions with Agilent Technology’s Advanced Networks Division and Cisco's Wireless Networking Business UnitPaul co-authored the book “Roaming Securely in 802.11 Networks” as well as numerous articles in technical journals related to computer networking. He is often an invited speaker at technical conferences.
Chuck Black is currently co-founder and Principal Software Architect at Tallac Networks. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of computer networking, working in research and development labs for Hewlett-Packard for most of that time before becoming co-founder of Tallac. Most recently he has been the innovator and creator of multiple networking products for HP in the area of Network Access Control and Security. Prior to this work, he developed products in the field of Network Management for HP's Software organization. In the early days of local area networking, he was author of some of the first network topology discovery applications in the industry.

" This is absolutely the best book on SDN

I am an adjunct faculty at the University of Texas at Dallas. I set out in May of 2014 to create a graduate class on SDN. I reviewed several books covering SDN and finally came across this book. After reading the book, my immediate thought "Wow. These guys really get SDN." This is absolutely the best book on SDN. If you are going to be involved in SDN in any role, this book is a must read. It is extremely well written and can be understood by business leaders as well as technical contributors. Dr. Goransson and Dr. Black hit a home run with this book. I'm using this book as the text book for the SDN class I created.

Must-have guide to SDN for all audiences

Software Defined Networking and its ramifications for the IT landscape are still not clearly understood by many people. Written by authors with decades of successful experience in the networking industry, this book is an excellent, comprehensive guide that walks the reader through the genesis of SDN, how it works and methods of implementation. It also discusses some of the key technologies being used today and the broader, long term impact of SDN on IT networking. Whether you are new to SDN or a seasoned networking professional, this book will give you what you need to know.

Great book - really raised my understanding of SDN/NFV and how it is relevant to me and my job

This really is a comprehensive approach and is structured to allow the reader to drill down on the technology as desired. Clearly written by people that not only understand but have applied the technology. The book takes you on journey that provides clear insight on how the way Networks are designed and deployed will be changed forever. A great resource to keep on hand.
