Best autism/ASD text I've used

I've taken four graduate level courses in autism education and have worked in the classroom and in support roles in special education for several years, so I've read a lot of autism-focused stuff. This is the best research-focused and easy to read resource I've found. The first chapter provides an overview of autism and autism spectrum disorders, and the second is focused on basic behavioral strategies. The third digs deeper into behavior, titled "Reducing Challenging Behavior." The fourth and fifth are focused on instruction, curriculum development (ch. 4) and teaching strategies (ch. 5). Chapter 6 is "Remediating Deficits in Speech and Language," with seven and eight focused on defecit remediation is socialization and life skills respectively. Finally, the best chapter of the book, Ch. 9, is titled "Understanding Intervention Controversies," and it provides guidance for evaluating interventions, reasons for program failure, and a story of one family's search for an effective program. It does a nice job of sorting through the mess and media surrounding autism without insulting parents or practitioners who have ascribed to strategies or mindsets that aren't research proven or that have been proven ineffective.

I also like that each chapter has a summary at the end with key points. And each chapter has its own list of references at the end, which makes it easy to do further research in just one area of the text (unlike other books that put all the references at the end).

This book is the best book I bought while completing my autism certification. It is an easy read yet filled valuable information! I will keep this book handy!

Fun story

These characters are very enjoyable to read about. At first not like Slade, but he has grown on me. However, just like the first book, there is a lot of repetition. I got annoyed with always reading about how much Skye loves pizza, and how she knows how much her father loves her. I skimmed over a good 5 pages cuz it was too much. The parents are too much. It's cheesy and got old quickly. Overall, it's a fun read.

Loving this series

This book carries on from the end of the previous book. Cayson and Skye are together and enjoying their time with each other. They spend every night in either of their apartments and have this bond that just seems to strengthen with time. I adore Skye in this book because she is opening up more to Cayson but she does also hide stuff from him. Mainly probably because she doesn’t want him to overreact or go off and do something stupid. I love watching their relationship grow and watching them grow as people too.

Cayson is a alpha male when it comes to Skye, there is literally nothing that he wouldn’t do to protect Skye. However, he is also protective when it comes to her friends as well as his own. He’s an all rounder and this book shows that more than the first book did. It shows Slade and Cayson more too especially as they are best friends.

It is very interesting to see Slade slowly but surely seeing Trinity in a different light. Slade is someone who sleeps around and is proud of it. He doesn’t hide what he does and he has every intention of one day being a tattoo artist. He can see what he thinks his life is going to be like and how it will pan out. He doesn’t plan on Trinity but somehow she burrows her way into his life and he can’t seem to stay away from her.

I love Trinity, she’s down to earth, says it how it is and honestly she’s a great character. I can’t help but love her to bits. She is so protective of her friends but she also half hates Slade and half loves him because he’s good in bed. I love it because you just know that they’ll end up together in some situation where they rile each other up. It does drag a bit but I still loved it!

This book is not just the continuation of Cayson and Skye, we get to touch up on Slade and Trinity. I wonder what the next book will entail. I think if you loved the first book in this series, you’ll love these books too. For any E.L. Todd fan, you’ll be in love with these books too!

How can Love be wrong!

Really enjoying getting to meet this group of people.

Family is the best, when everyone gets on! and they constantly have your back.

Glad Skye and Carson are happy and OK, lets face it, its not all sunshine and roses; they need to have disagreements to remind themselves why they feel that way for each other.

I like how we got the continuation of Skye and Carson but also getting and understanding more of Trinity and Slade. He does have Ryan & Janice's blood running through his veins; and I remember them both being very promiscuous until they clamped eyes on each other, and Trinity has the biggest manwhore of the group as her father - OK he was once, until he met Casandra.

The fierceness and voraciousness of Trinity and Slade at the beginning was comical and I must admit did not see the pairing coming. When they let heir guards down you get to see a completely different side to them both.

Trinity and Mikes relationship is really lovely, shame she doesn't have the same kind of relationship with her mom.

Slad also has a brilliant relationship with his dad, again no so with his mom.

I really thought that Trinity and Slade if they ever got over themselves, and trying to hide their relationship being as good together as Skye and Carson.

Glad we got to meet Roland and Conrad a bit more, hope their stories are as fun and we get to learn more about the other siblings.

Thoroughly enjoying seeing the interaction between the younger generations.

Skye is so similar to her dad, but she also has some Scarlet's qualities too.

Carsons attitude is the mirror image of Courtland's and I did think how ironic that it was Scarlet's daughter and Courtland's Son that got together.

I hope Trinity and Slade maintain their friendship and that it continues to develop into something special.

This course textbook is an excellent tool for both the beginner and the experienced architect with regard to expanding one's knowledge base on energy designing. The text starts with basic information relating to the environment and site analysis, then provides detailed design concepts for practical use. Covers basic physical principles, human response, design response to site and ong emphasis on passive systems with lighter coverage of mechanical and electrical systems. Lots of wroked examples, case studies, design guidelines, and illustrations by the author. Useful both as a text for architecture students as well as a refresher for practitioners.

The Art of LV

This is a ginormous book chronicling all of the wonderful collaborations LV has done with artists and photographers. It's large format, full color, beautiful paper and an impressive collection. Whether you are a collector or just a fan this book provides plenty of reference material and inspiration. From Takashi Murakami to Stephen Sprouse to Richard Prince and many, many others this showcases all of the wonderful designs that have come from these artistic mashups. It's all here and looks fabulous. For fans of the artists and for LV lovers this is a visual treat and highly recommended.

Diverse & colorful insights into the LV world

For those that are curious, this is the same book as the Exclusive Edition one available in LV boutiques and the online store for $130. The only difference is the cover art work, 5 multiple colored tassels for bookmarking, and the plastic slipcase found on the Exclusive Edition. Otherwise, the content of the book is exactly the same.

I was debating between purchasing this book and the Louis Vuitton: The Birth of Modern Luxury. After browsing through both books at my local LV boutique, I realized that they are actually quite different and intended for different audience. For me, I was immediately drawn to the art works and worldwide architecture designs and photos in the Art, Fashion, and Architecture book and how they relate to the overall image and designs of the company's products. Numerous color photos of great past and current LV ads as well as display window pictures are another attraction that drew me to purchase this book. Basically, I think of the The Birth of Modern Luxury as a "library, archival, historical" type of book while the Art, Fashion, and Architecture as the actual "modern, fashionable, and diverse" offering. I believe if you are into beautiful, high quality pictures and less reading, then this should be the choice between the two books.

Personally, I actually prefer this Standard Edition over the Exclusive Edition simply because I don't need the slipcase and find the cover design on the Exclusive Edition a bit too cartoon-like.
This is really one of the nicest coffee table books I've ever purchased both in design and quality. My book arrived in pristine condition and Amazon did a great job packing and shipping. A note regarding the binding issue some other reviewers brought up, the copy at the LV boutique looks like it's been opened and flattened for a prolonged period and although the pages are well attached, they did look like you might be able to tear a page loose if you flip the page too hard or fast. It is however the same with the other large format LV books in the store made by different publishers. I believe this is just the way they make large format books with nice thick glossy papers. As long as you don't press the book open, you will never have to worry about binding issues.

construction a little shoddy

The contents of this book are wonderful, edgy photography, great subject matter.
If you are expecting just fashion, this is not the book for you. It contains storefronts, (hint:architecture in the title), art and just enough fashion to satisfy a woman. The actual book I received is a little shoddy.The binding does not seem strong and it feels the pages may come out with a lot of use. There also was
tearing on the title page next to the spine, this is a new book and I am a liitle
disappointed in the condition.

Best book of my medical career

This is absolutely completely useful. I'll probably be using this book for the rest of my life. It's got emergency information and continuous care info; pediatrics and ob-gyn; common and uncommon diseases, and best of all, it's written with considerations of low income settings. It's basically the best book I've bought in my medical career, and I carry it with me all the time. I'm trying to memorize it, actually.

A great book

This is a great book. I used it when I was in residency. I am now a practicing psychiatrist. I can still, even to this day, see how this book has shaped my clinical interviewing in a positive way. It is practical, it takes the theory and gives you examples of how to phrase things. It has mneumonics that help you remember all of the different parts of the interview. it enables you to do a pretty complete diagnositic interview when you need to. I remember getting compliments from my supervisors after they observed my interview when I started using these methods. It is a great book to get when you are wondering about how to get started when you first begin conducting interviews.

Excellent Undergraduate Textbook for computer hardware

An excellent book, very complete and very detailed. Mostly well written and clear. It explains MC68K and Power PC archtiectures. It is very indepth when it comes to microprogramming. A good overview of Assembly concepts. You will learn about microprocessors inside out, including Intel Pentium family with superscalar features and the importance of pipelining and compiler optimization. A great reference for profesionals, a superb guide for undergrads.

Excellent undergraduate text

This was the assigned text for my junior year computer engineering course on computer organization. I loved it. The explanations are clear, progress logically, and are clearly presented. I find myself picking it up from time to time, both to read the more advanced chapters out of personal interest and to look up details needed in more advanced coursework.

Lucid and Timeless

A clearly written book, which employs a simple language. Another beauty of the book is that all loose ends are tied up. As sentences unfold one will realize why a particular phrase was used earlier and so on. That makes a big difference for an engineering text book.

It is the best book that I know for fundamentals. Hence, it will be useful for years to come.

Must have for all embedded systems people.
